Contact your Maine senators! The DISCLOSE Act would stop anonymous spending in our elections by requiring entities trying to influence our elections to disclose their major political donors. It would increase transparency and accountability.

Maine is heading towards adopting Ranked Choice Voting in more municipalities for a variety of races. As the state continues to navigate the adoption of RCV, the League of Women Voters will work with elected officials to reach a gold standard of transparency, accountability, and accessibility. 

Ah, yes. Summer in Maine. It's the season for beach time, food trucks, and fresh seafood. But why spend time eating a lobster roll when you can volunteer with the League? The June 14 election is just around the corner. This will be the last chance for volunteers to sign up and get trained for the League's nonpartisan election observation program. 

Now that the Legislative Session is over, our Under the Dome newsletter will take a break for the summer season. Here's one last THANK YOU to our League community for supporting our advocacy efforts, taking action on critical bills, and making democracy work.
 

Take a deep breath. We survived the legislative session, and now it's time to switch our focus to that most vital part of the year — elections. 

The June 14 primary election is just around the corner, and the League will send out trained nonpartisan volunteers to observe poll locations around the state. 

The Legislature will come back into session today, May 9, to deal with any possible vetoes issued by the Governor. Though anything can happen, we expect them to adjourn sine die at end of the session. It's been a remarkable season for the League. 

Mother's Day is rooted in activism and pacifism. It started in 1858 when Ann Jarvis organized “Mother’s Work Days” to improve sanitation and reduce deaths related to polluted water in her Appalachian community. She would spend her lifetime organizing to improve the lives of others.

We need your help. In 2021, the League of Women Voters of Maine announced Maine Students Vote (MSV) would join our growing community. MSV is an organization that's passionate about increasing access to the ballot booth for young and student voters. They're the fastest growing electorate, but Generation Z needs help getting the work done.
