Would you like to adopt a town for the League of Women Voters of Maine?

All you need to do is make sure that your adopted town's elections are covered in our online voter guide, Vote411.org. When your town has an annual town meeting or municipal election coming up, you'll send us the information using this form. That's it!

What is Vote411.org?

Vote411.org is a nonpartisan resource that allows voters to look up information about their town, state, and federal races during every major election cycle. We try to be as comprehensive as possible, and by volunteering, you’re helping us to reach the goal of covering every Maine town. See our map of towns that have already been adopted, and use the search bar to look up your town.

Want to do even more for your adopted town?

We run several programs at the local level, and you can help expand our reach. We have a Guide to Local Government and a workshop based on it that you could present, a "Best Practices" checklist for local government, and we'll train you to be a nonpartisan election observer for our Trust in Elections team. There are a ton of ways you can engage locally and we're happy to share resources and ideas.

How can I get involved?

The first step is to let us know that you're ready to adopt your town. Fill out our form here. Be sure to check our map of towns that have already been adopted. After we hear from you, we'll follow up and send over your very own adoption certificate! Once your town, or several towns, has been adopted, you can start collecting information that can later be uploaded to Vote411.org. We've even put together a booklet that you can use digitally or print off at home to help you keep track of all the information.
