Over 100 years ago on a similar cold February day, the League of Women Voters became a grassroots organization. Since then we've fought for voting rights, against big money in politics, trailblazed with ranked choice voting, modernized Maine's elections, and the lists goes on.
We have a century's worth of experience behind us. But the work is never done.
That's why on the anniversary of our founding, our birthday, we'll meet in Augusta for a day of advocacy. And you’re personally invited! This is an annual tradition where League folks from across the state congregate at the State House.
We so appreciate your dedication to protecting our democracy. It's critical for legislators to hear from their constituents about vital issues. Legislators understand that they serve the voter, and they value your perspective. |
