More than a dozen organizations in Maine, representing interests ranging from voting rights, climate and environmental protection, economic justice and immigrants’ rights, will co-host an online forum with the candidates for Secretary of State on November 17 at 5:00 pm.
The online forum will be moderated by Anna Kellar, executive director of the League of Women Voters of Maine, and Alison Beyea, executive director of the ACLU of Maine. Audience members are able to participate and ask questions of the Secretary of State candidates.
The candidates include:

- Outgoing Senator Justin Chenette, Saco
- Outgoing Representative Erik Jorgensen, Portland
- Outgoing Representative Matt Moonen, Portland
- Outgoing Representative Craig Hickman, Winthrop
- Former Representative Tom Bull, Freeport
A constitutional officer, the Secretary of State is elected every two years by the Legislature. The Secretary of State’s office plays an important role in eliminating barriers to political participation through its administration of elections, eliminating barriers to economic opportunity through administration of driver’s license and motor vehicle laws, and creating a complete and inclusive narrative of Maine and its residents, through the State Archive.
